Understanding 3D auto-orientation

In contrast to 2D layers, 3D layers in After Effects include additional auto-orientation options in the Auto-Orient dialog box. The additional options that are added depend on the layer to which auto-orientation is applied. 3D footage layers add the Orient Toward Camera option which, when chosen, sets the layer so that it will always face the active camera. For information on setting auto-orient options, see Rotating a layer along a motion path.

Light and camera layers add the Orient Toward Point of Interest option. For more information about this option, see Understanding camera Transform properties or Understanding Light Transform properties.
